With the nation’s population living longer, the NHS under stress, the rise of technology and mental wellness being a cause for concern, whilst conditions like Dementia being on the increase, it is now more than ever that we need look after our health and well-being.

KM Dance and Health classes are designed to ensure we’re making the most out of getting older. Dance has huge benefits to us and these classes encourage us to stay as physically fit as we can whilst keeping a healthy mental state.

Classes are structured depending on the group, they can be wholly seated, partially seated and standing or for able groups the whole class is done standing. The style is Contemporary Dance incorporating themes and moves across difference dance genres. With music from across decades and styles, movement is formed into short sequences targeting different body parts, muscle groups, co-ordination and for spatial awareness. Each exercise encompasses musicality, space and and expression, they’re broken down and taught and then performed with music. They’re developed over a few weeks so participants feel that sense of achievement and can leave classes feeling ENLIVENED AND EXPRESSIVE.

Workshops can also be organised and delivered to develop dance and health practice for other dance and arts facilitators as well as organisations who would like to further their knowledge in this area. Please use the contact page to enquire further about these.

Bespoke Contemporary dance workshops held in schools for young people of all ages and abilities to engage with movement whilst exploring their creativity and EXPRESSION in a fun, physical and energetic activity. Dance not only teaches technical skills but enables many transferable skills to encourage students’ development and growth as individuals. Dance gives young people a focus, something that can transport them away from outside distractions. As well as to EDUCATE, these dance workshops are there to ENRICH these young people’s lives for the better.

These workshops are split into two categories, Primary ages and Secondary ages, and can range from being one hour long to a full day of activity. They can be during school hours or after school. For young age groups, they are tailored made to the schools curriculum, to enhance physical fitness, to develop body and space awareness whilst also developing team building and confidence. For older youth workshops, they can be designed with all that in mind as well as working specifically with GCSE and A Level dance groups, and specially designed workshops to develop choreographic and performance skills. Choreography can also be created for students to be performed at Dance and Performing Arts school shows.

Specialist workshops can also be provided to schools and their staff/teachers as a way to share knowledge of how dance can be taught in schools across key stages and how it can work with the curriculum. For more information on these type of workshops please use the contact page.
